DEATH BY CHOCOLATE - BIO
Death By Chocolate are Corks’ most energetic Funk six piece live venue and festival performers. The band comprises of three part vocals, sax, base, guitar, keys and drums. Formed in 2008 under the former name “Death By CockRockers”, they quickly established themselves with high profile events such as The World Yacht Race festival, sharing the bill with Fred. They’ve also performed at both The Spraoi and The Tall Ships festivals in Waterford City alongside the likes of Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music and The Waterboys. They are a musical
energy bar that is far from fun sized, that you’ve got to taste!

NEW MIND LINE – PRESS BIO
In early 2009 five guys got together with a mutual love of music, each with different musical influences. 3
members, guitarists Mark Hackett and Ross Farrell, together with Edinburgh born vocalist Jai Grogan, had
worked together in a previous project. Drummer Don Canny and German born Bassist Markus Weber were
recruited shortly after and the sessions began.
The various influences immediately lead to an interesting blend of moody rock with crossover electronic
elements thrown into the mix. New Mind Line strive to write music first and foremost for their own personal
satisfaction, an element of self discipline which has produced powerful, melodic tracks thus far in their career.
2010 promises to be a busy year, the start of a new decade, the start of a new era, and this is one band that
wants to be part of it.
Becks Vier presents Low Sea + Support live at An Brog Wednesday 8th February from 9.30pm. Free Admission as usual.
Ireland-based duo Low Sea combine warped seasick-shoegaze, nostalgic pop melody and fuzzed-out dreampop, all cemented on a solid krautrock platform.
With sounds that reference everything from Suicide to Spacemen 3, A.R.Kane to Mazzy Star, Giorgio Moroder to The Big Pink, Low Sea’s songs are a hazy journey between looming shadows and bleached-out light.
* “If this is what they call the light, we shudder to think of their shadowy moments...” NME
“… Low Sea cut the dark, pressurized atmosphere with an update on steady-state krautrock motorik, bringing to mind some of the experiments on the Horrors’ Primary Colours (not to mention the “Sea Within a Sea”/”Low Sea” connection.) The track “Never Yours” from their self-released debut ‘Las Olas’ builds unhurriedly with swirling synthesizers and distant vocals and …growing more forceful when the repeated line “I was never yours” cuts through the haze.” Pitchfork
* ".... Julee Cruise on sedatives." Adequacy.net
* “As a band, they should be heard, and I’m ashamed to say I’m only catching up now…” harmlessnoise.wordpress.com
* “Like a good horror movie director, Low Sea know the real scares are the ones you can only imagine.” Pitchfork
* “Low Sea plumbs depths that few other bands could fathom. The sound of Spaceman 3 and Mazzy Star being thrown to the bottom of the most tranquil ocean leaving the listener pining for the inevitable beautiful songs to emerge from below. A surprisingly big sound for a duo, Low Sea has created what can only be described as an album of shoegaze sea shanties. Low Sea is one of those bands that it pays to immerse yourself in to fully comprehend their brilliance. Ireland’s brightest musical hopes…" crumbsinthebutter.art.officelive.com
* “The classic, sexy French vocals of Billie (vox/guitar/percussion) fuse with the ambient layered arrangement of synthetic and acoustic sounds created by Bobby D (guitar/bass/sounds) and the synthesis is undoubtedly something special.” www.trendland.net
* "If you're in the mood to listen to a psychedelic shoegaze band, then look no further." www.indietoday.net
* "With dark and sophisticated soundscapes Low Sea will envelope you like the wave that sweeps you away off your feet to reach depths in a complete daze. Through enticing echoes of swirling synthesizers comes an entirely cinematic atmospheric experience." www.verbreverb.com
* "This new group from Galway are blowing my mind these days." pinkmafia.ca/blog
* "Such is the sophistication of the Low Sea's sound, it's easy to forget that they comprise just two members" keepitlikeasecretblog.blogspot.com
* "Ireland’s Low Sea have flooded the blogosphere with news of their upcoming album The Light out 9/13 on Lefse Records. I received a few tracks to check out this week and my instinct says this is going to be a pretty wild record."www.earsofthebeholder.com
* "Drawing influence from shadowy pulsing folks like Suicide, NEU! and Joy Division, the duo’s music might best be described oppressively atmospheric, yet irresistibly bleak. Throw in some lithe femme vocals and this might be the finest example of existential roadtrip music might best be described oppressively atmospheric, yet irresistibly bleak. Throw in some lithe femme vocals and this might be the finest example of existential roadtrip music I’ve ever had the pleasure of enduring."www.myoldkentuckyblog.com
* "Who are we to argue with Pitchfork… " www.beehivecandy.com
* "This record has been threatening to abuse my ears for a couple of weeks but for some reason managed to avoid being played. It turns out however that it's a bit of a treat."

Heineken Music presents Slow Motion Heroes + Support live at An Brog Wednesday 22nd February from 9.30pm. Free Admission as usual.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvGWDyylrD0
Cork supergroup Slow Motion Heroes are back with their long-awaited second-half E.P.Not Pop, the flip side to their well-received Pop E.P. and a departure from the aforementioned, a much heavier, darker affair that maintains the accessibility and ear for melody that typifies the Heroes’ output, yet adds depth to their ever-evolving oeuvre. Great to see that in places like Soon, they haven’t abandoned their hardcore roots either, passages of distortion made special by their scarcity.
Fans of Hope is Noise, [R]evolution of a Sun and Cork music in general are already all over these lads, but any fans of Nick Cave will appreciate the piano-led melancholy on display.
Not noted for their leanings towards the more melodic end of the musical spectrum, the members of Slow Motion Heroes raised a few eyebrows on Leeside during the summer when they released the POP EP. From the opening bars of ‘Tick Tock’, the guys whose former and current bands include [r]evolution of a sun, Rulers of the Planet and Hope is Noise, were obviously back on the uppers as poptastic keyboards merged with soaring harmonies and big Arcade Fire-like choruses. This wasn’t what we were used to
Before we get used to this new departure, however, Slow Motion Heroes are about to pull the musical rug from under our feet with the release of Not POP, a different beast to its predecessor and one that showcases the band’s more thoughtful side.

Heineken Music presents White McKenzie + Support live at An Brog Wednesday 21st March from 9.30pm. Free Admission as usual.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SN-0vnhDYFQ
White McKenzie formed to create music in whatever form it may arrive. The process involved the recruitment of several musicians, all hailing from alternative musical backgrounds. White McKenzie worked steadily behind closed doors, content with the final set-up as a 6 piece, the writing continued until such time as they had written material worthy of a live delivery.
They commenced playing live on the eve of 2011 and within their first few performances found themselves in the Grand Final of the Shercock Battle of the Bands for a place to play Glastonbury 2011. Having narrowly missed out on the top prize to play the world's biggest festival, White McKenzie set their very determined focus on completing a Debut Release. Over the last year of hard graft in the Studio, "Absence" was created and is scheduled for release on the 30th of September 2011. This album will be available for purchase in Tower Records, Dublin, itunes, amazon etc. from the 30th of September 2011.
The future is bright for the very passionate Dublin based Band!
